American General Life Companies Enhances Technology Tools for Producers

Improvements Include Upgrades to eStation and Launch of eSignature for Accident Expense PlusŪ

HOUSTON, May 4, 2010 — American General Life Companies (American General) has implemented a host of enhancements to its producer Website, eStation (http://eStation.aglife.com), and expanded the use of its proprietary “eSignature” technology to enable online applications for its Accident Expense PlusŪ product.

“Producers value tools that save time and boost productivity,” said David O’Leary, executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We’re pleased to build on our past technological innovations, through the upgrades to eStation as well as the rollout of eSignature for Accident Expense Plus.”

American General’s eStation, an online business resource center, features sales tools, updates on pending and in-force business, product training, illustration systems, an easy-to-use forms ordering database and more. The recent enhancements to eStation include:

  • Messaging with attachments functionality – enables producers to submit .pdf, .doc, .xls, and .csv file attachments through all areas of the existing eStation messaging system
  • An Agent Number menu on the Agent Lookup screen — helps producers quickly look up the unique identification codes by which they are affiliated with American General
  • Report descriptions in Agent Lookup — enables producers to see at a glance the types of reports they can generate through eStation
  • An orientation screen — highlights the features of eStation for first-time users and provides tips on site navigation and functionality
  • A survey tool — allows producers to provide feedback to American General.

These new functionalities simplify producers’ ability to do business with American General. For example, attaching e-documents to messages with eStation provides an alternative to faxing documents to the home office. This new functionality is not a replacement for American General’s existing electronic submission methods; rather, by continuing to use eSubmission, producers can help ensure that documents are processed as quickly as possible. Producers will also be able receive documents back from American General via eStation as an added feature of the new messaging attachments functionality.

American General’s extension of eSignature technology to Accident Expense Plus — an ideal supplement to high-deductible health plans — is based on research with producers that indicates their interest in simpler, speedier application processes for accidental injury and critical illness insurance products. The one-click eSignature technology enables producers and clients to complete the application for Accident Expense Plus online, using a secure Website to “eSign” and submit forms. Alternatively, a traditional package of forms can be printed for signing, and then faxing or mailing to American General.

American General also recently announced the availability of eSignature technology to expedite the application process for American General LTCSM Insurance.
